Shopping baskets
They are present in almost every store; from supermarkets to hardware stores, shopping baskets. Where these baskets used to be made of wicker, nowadays they are made of Polypropylene. This material is easily molded with an injection molding machine and is impact and tear resistant. It can also come into contact with food without releasing potentially harmful substances. Another advantage of these shopping baskets is that they are available in various colors such as green, blue, yellow, gray, red, black, and transparent. The standard baskets have a capacity of 22 liters. With the two handles on the basket, it always lifts nicely on a horizontal plane. The load capacity of these shopping baskets is up to 30 kg. There is also space for a logo on the side of the baskets. This can be applied in different ways; with IML labeling or with stickers. IML labeling is only possible for larger quantities.
Applications of Shopping Baskets
A shopping basket is a very versatile product. It finds applications in a wide range of industries, and even consumers appreciate the shopping basket. A handy feature of these baskets is that they are stackable, making them very space efficient. 50 stacked baskets take up only 170 cm in height. With a mobile trolley, the entire stack of baskets can be easily moved. This can be very convenient when baskets need to be quickly brought in during peak times. They are also often used in warehouses. Products can be stored in them, and with different colored baskets, it becomes more organized. For example, rush orders can go in red baskets, while less urgent orders can go in green ones. Supermarkets are the largest consumers of shopping baskets. In addition to the traditional basket, they often have mobile trolleys as well. These baskets are a good example of the IML labeling process. The logo appears almost melted into them. The baskets are also ideal for home use. Think of storing toys or shoes, for example. The openings ensure good ventilation, and there is space on the outside for labeling.
Recycling
Polypropylene shopping baskets are fully recyclable. This does not mean it is an environmentally friendly product. However, since a basket typically lasts a long time under normal conditions, the overall environmental impact is low. After its functional life, if it goes through the recycling process, it can be turned into a new raw material. This raw material then finds its way back to the plastics processing industry and may become new shopping baskets again.
