Clothing Rack
The origin of the clothing rack dates back to the time when clothes hangers were first used, likely around the year 1743. During these years, clothes hangers became commonly used. Fashion also developed further during this period, especially in France and Italy, setting trends that were followed throughout Europe. A logical consequence of the clothes hanger was the clothing rack, which allowed clothing to be hung efficiently and organized. Initially, clothing racks were mainly used in stores, later also in private homes. Clothing racks can be divided into two main groups: fixed clothing racks and mobile clothing racks. The first group includes, for example, wall-mounted units in stores. Mobile racks are usually not fixed and are often used for storage.
Fixed Clothing Rack
A fixed clothing rack is characterized by its lack of (easy) mobility. These clothing racks are often screwed to the wall and equipped with the necessary organization. This can include hanging space, shelves for displaying folded clothes, or even a dressing mirror. With a height of approximately 250 cm, it is possible to organize clothing in two layers. These wall clothing racks come in different colors such as stainless steel, white, black, and gray. There is also a wide range of designs. The stands are often perforated, which can be on the front or the back. The more luxurious versions have the perforations on the back. The front is then smoothly finished, and accessories are hooked onto the back of the stands to achieve the right display height.
Mobile Clothing Rack
Another important group is the free-standing clothing racks. There is a huge variety in this category. However, all these racks share the feature of being easily movable. The construction is often lighter and usually equipped with braked swivel casters. Therefore, they are often used to create temporary hanging space. Ideal for quickly setting up a display for your store outside but also handy for the attic. After use, these clothing racks can be quickly folded and stored as a package. The materials used often vary considerably. The cheaper models often have plastic connectors, while the more expensive ones have metal connectors. The metal variants are generally much more stable. It is also possible to build two layers on top of each other with a steel clothing rack. This can save a lot of space if enough height is available.
